Bits recalled after safety concerns - Reports of Neue Schule’s Comfy Contact bits breaking in the middle have forced the company to recall two from their range.  Neue Schule bits is recalling two bits from its range due to safety concerns. The company is offering refunds for the Comfy Contact eggbut cheek and baucher cheek released between 1 September 2004 and 31 December 2005 (Full details in the "Product Safety" section).

 

Boy died from pony kick - A very rare reaction to a kick from a pony killed an Egyptian boy at a riding school near Radlett last year, an inquest heard (Full details in the "Accidents" section).

Road closed after car and horse collide - It was reported that Police were forced to close the busy Southwick Road near Wickham, Hampshire after an accident between a horse and a car resulting in the horse having to be put down at the scene.  It is understood that the rider escaped without serious injury (Full details in the "Accidents" section). 

 

Danger of explosion during barn fire - A FIRE ripped through a large barn containing gas cylinders and fertiliser, threatening to engulf nearby stables (Full details in the "Fire" section).

Seriously injured rider saved from further injury by his hat

The owner of a leisure centre in the Burnley area was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after an accident on the centre’s cross-country course.  He escaped even more serious injury when his riding hat protected him when his horse inadvertently kicked him when he was on the ground.  His riding hat was described as “demolished”.
